Society of English Majors

Brief Description

The name of this organization shall be Society of English Majors, and hereby stylized and abbreviated as SEM. The Society of English Majors’ branding shall be known as English Enthusiast that signifies a leader who is interested in English matters that also aim to serve, lead, and inspire students.

Vision

The Society of English Majors leads in empowering the English Enthusiast and giving value to their knowledge and skills. The organization informs, educates, inspires, and provides meaningful learnings to their fellow students as an integral part of their experience in the college. The Society of English Majors believes that effort and courage are the key to success.

As an outcome, the students under Society of English Majors:

  • Are welcomed with different opportunities in enhancing their development.
  • Prosper in terms of their communication and social skills.
  • Enable themselves to flourish and take responsibility for their education.

Mission

The Society of English Majors is dedicated to motivating and fostering the students’ creativity, skills, and passion to empower themselves and the future students of BSEd Major in English into becoming the best version of themselves. We are united by our core values of implementing Loyalty, acquiring knowledge through Learning, embrace Wisdom, fighting with the Challenge to do more and do better, enhancing Creativity, provide Service to the student BODY, upbringing Excellence, and be the source of Motivation, upholds and builds Harmony, Unity, and Dignity.

Goals and Objectives

  • Society of English Majors, also known as SEM, shall be the premier provider of a broad spectrum of meaningful learning opportunities for the improvement of communication skills in English among the students of the Lapu-Lapu City College.
  • With the limiting organizational focus and control of the latter, now over the tertiary level, this organization shall practice and enjoy full independence in terms of its organizational structure, supervision, implementation of policies and programs, and other concerns.
  • Withstanding the independence declared herein, the organization shall promote sound collaborative efforts with the organization and other student organizations, particularly in the activities and programs related to the improvement of communication skills in English
