History

The organization’s name, Socialmente Unidos (SU), is a Spanish phrase that means Socially United, where the organization believes in the essence of unity in the face of social change—that everyone’s cooperation and proactive involvement is sought to be crucial against social issues affecting the student populace, the society as a whole. The organization also embodies hope for the future, as young Social Studies students are honed, developed, and trained to become more effective and impactful leaders as well as citizens of the future.

The organization is anchored on its Latin maxim “Manus in Mano, Dum Spiramus, Speramus,” which means “Hand and Hand, While We Breathe, We Hope.”  Thus, the organization believe in the power of harmony and solidarity coupled with dedication and incorruptible hope for a better society.

The SU members, advisers, and other individuals associated with the organization are called Ka-Socialites or Socialites (in either way). [Article XVI, Section 1]

Furthermore, the organization, from a population of two (2) sections in equivalent, is now thriving and growing into a more diverse and inclusive community. Thus, allowing the organization to hone more leaders for the future, providing hope for the nation and the world.

In addition, the organization aims to become more open to everyone who is looking forward to being part of the SU community and become known as Ka-Socialites or Socialites.

True to its purpose, the organization is continuously developing regardless of the changes that took place that is against its favor, for it lived in its maxim, “Hand and Hand, While We Breathe, We Hope.”
